Sartorial Monk Men's Fall 2019

5 monthes ago   |   By WWD

This collection - spare, elegant and a tad costumey - could have come straight from the Umberto Eco novel “The Name of the Rose,” what with the barefoot models, monastic hoods and floor-sweeping coats and dresses. Designer Sabato Russo said his inspiration for this coed collection is always the same: “Southern Italian tailoring, spirituality and emotion.” Dresses ranged from the demure, as in a long crushed velvet number swiped from a fair maiden's closet, to the racy, as in one with a low and revealing draped back. Outerwear for men and women was particularly lovely and included tailored...

Danilo Paura Men's Fall 2019

5 monthes ago   |   By WWD

Danilo Paura chose a small, newly refurbished theater in central Milan - a gem of a place called Teatro Gerolamo - to show off his colorful collection of streetwear and sporty styles, all of which are made in Italy. Looks included puffers, zebra-print trousers and scarves, knits in shades of acid green or bright blue - and even a pinstripe suit. On the footwear front, there were hiking boots and cowboy styles. Paura said that, more than anything else, he was proud of his fabrics, which included wool, cashmere, brushed mohair and cotton, and of their provenance and comfort.

Fendi Men's Fall 2019

5 monthes ago   |   By WWD

The suit and tie are back, but this time as an act of rebellion in the land of Fendi. Silvia Venturini Fendi pushed in so many directions this season, playing with opposites and contrasts, and working with her friend Karl Lagerfeld in a fusion of old and new, formal and sporty. Her most powerful stroke, though, was thrusting tailored clothing - with a few twists - back into the limelight.
“Today, for a young kid, or for somebody who didn't experience it before, to be in a suit and tie is the most subversive attire. I wanted to see all those men approaching a classical mood,” said Venturini...

Aspesi Men's Fall 2019

5 monthes ago   |   By WWD

For next winter, Aspesi translated its signature Milanese elegance into a versatile collection aimed at a range of men. Outdoor enthusiasts will find plenty of options in the N/Aspesi line of puffers and high-tech jackets offering great insulation and a colorful, sporty style. An urban, more sophisticated attitude was injected into the collection of tailored coats and blazers - all cut in deconstructed silhouettes - which were matched with indigo denim pants, shirts and polos. For the cool kids, the brand's Kinky Atoms characters appeared as embroidered patches peppering hoodies, anoraks...

Emporio Armani Men's Fall 2019

5 monthes ago   |   By WWD

The big chill swept through this superluxe, winter-sports-themed collection, one of the house's strongest in seasons.
The allure was very urban but, between the lines, exotic with the lashings of faux furs and embossed fabrics emulating animal skins. Even checked pants and textured knits took on a wild allure.
The mood was cold and cozy, with the palette blowing from black to a storm of suit-grays to silver, blue and albino, including a white-out section with models carrying snowboards.
Offering warmth was the expanse of textural woolly, quilted, velvety and furry surfaces, some with light...

Spyder Men's Fall 2019

5 monthes ago   |   By WWD

Sportswear specialist Spyder staged its runway debut with a fall show opened by the performance of a gymnast on the rings.
The show combined the brand's training collection with the urban lifestyle range through a number of looks that incorporated the athletic and activewear DNA of the label into everyday city outfits. Backstage, creative director Christopher Bevans said he was inspired by the youth tribes in the Nineties and wanted to use that to “elevate the sporty aesthetics.”
Nylon running outfits with geometric motifs were influenced by the looks sported by young skaters in the...
