For his fall collection,”I'd been toying a lot with the idea of celebrating the different cities where I've grown, where I've nurtured my brand,” the Peruvian-born designer explained. That notion is what inspired his return to NYFW. In particular, his fall line was a love letter to South America. “A tapestry of different ideas, different experiences,” he said backstage of the many ideas that went into the collection.
Cortazar said wool and cashmere blend...

PETA's ‘Fashion Police' Write Tickets for Fur-Clad Pedestrians as NYFW Wraps Up

6 days ago   |   By WWD

FUR'S FIRST OFFENSE: People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals tried to leave their own stamp on New York Fashion Week on Wednesday afternoon.
Looking to crack down on showgoers wearing animal skins, the animal rights group recruited two supporters to pose as “fashion police” writing tickets for unsuspecting passersby. A delayed noontime start wasn't the only glitch. Most of the runway shows were finished throughout the city, never mind at the corner of West Houston and Washington Street where their patrol began. (A utility worker off to work did look very Calvin Klein-esque in a...

Pet couturier Anthony Rubio is no stranger to the runways, having done runway shows for nearly ten years with the last five during fashion week. He had a plan in place to break the stigma and barriers presenting his canine couture as escorted by human models wearing his women's wear fashions at the historic Angel Orensanz Center, originally a Synagogue built in 1850.
